This is one wacky town I will admit. Watching Hester throughout this entire ordeal was quite entertaining though. She learned to cope with what she had and went beyond what others thought as her limit. A great lesson to learn from this series of events is that everyone makes mistakes, but once the mistake is made one needs to learn how to cope and surpass the mistake made. One does not have to forget the mistake but simply overcome it. I also learned that society can be easily swayed to do things so I think I'll stick to my job out in the forests.
I think that the decision to run away is a bit odd for this moment in history. After all the years past the incident they just now decide to run? It doesn't make too much sense to me. As for Pearl, I don't think she would want to go with them because Dimmsdale doesn't really want to be seen with her and her mother in public. She also understands that the scarlet letter is a very important part in her existence and she does not like seeing her mother without it. There is also some resentment between her and Dimmsdale as in the final part of chapter nineteen she is seen trying to wash the kiss he gave to her off in the stream.
