This is one wacky town I will admit. Watching Hester throughout this entire ordeal was quite entertaining though. She learned to cope with what she had and went beyond what others thought as her limit. A great lesson to learn from this series of events is that everyone makes mistakes, but once the mistake is made one needs to learn how to cope and surpass the mistake made. One does not have to forget the mistake but simply overcome it. I also learned that society can be easily swayed to do things so I think I'll stick to my job out in the forests.

I agree, this town is very wacky. I don't know why I kept my family here. I am impressed with Hester though. She overcame all of her problems and sins. She rid herself of her letter and allowed herself to be happy, for a short while. I am also happy that Dimmesdale finally was able to admit to his sin and be free, but at what cost? Was it worth leaving his family alone, worth leaving this world?

Very true, Malachi. Our humble town has definitely seen some strange times, and I only wish that we could have viewed Hester's mistake with more mercy and humanity. I think that what you said about coping and supposing your mistakes is definitely important, but how easy is that to achieve when you have a constant reminder of your mistake, such as the scarlet letter that Hester had to live with for years? Or her child born and raised out of wedlock?

I concur, our little town is out of sorts, and I wish that everyone could see that. Hester was able to recognize that, and she had the common sense to leave. But before she left she had the strength to endure the emotional pain that was inflicted upon her by everyone. Hester faced her mistakes head on and never backed down.

I think I should start farming my tobacco somewhere in the woods too because this town can be swayed pretty easily. Although it is very interesting to watch it all happen in the events that it did. Hester endured a hell of a lot and I cannot fathom how much respect I have for her. I cannot say so much in my position because I really don't know what it's like, but I do know that it is not easy. For that reason, I also respect Dimmesdale for his actions. Nobody shall ever judge his decisions he made because they are too much of a burden upon one's shoulders.
