I agree with your statement that every parent has a right to keep their child, unless they are an extremely abusive parent, which Hester is not. She is not exactly what we would consider mother of the year, but she still cares about Pearl. Also, in my opinion Sir Chillingsworth seems a bit skeptical, but I don't believe we should judge a book by it's cover, so right now I think that he is trustworthy because he has not proven otherwise.

I agree with these statements because every parents has the right to there children. They honestly have the right to bring up there children whatever way they please. Hester may have made mistakes but she does not deserve to have Pearl taken away. As for Sir Chillingsworth, he seems like a shady character to me. He may be a trust worthy guy but right now he is caught up in the scandal of his cheating wife so he may do something he would not usually.

Hester fears her own child and does not want to discipline her. If a parent is too afraid to discipline their child then they should not be allowed to raise them. That is the reason that we have so many unruly kids these days. Our society needs well fit parents for naughty or mischievous children. Chillingsworth seems to be somewhat nosy. Chillingsworth also appears to be shady and clearly secretive.
